The Artist

Yarina Dai is a contemporary jewelry artist based in China and Switzerland. She explores the evolving symbiotic relationship of human, nature and technology. She creates speculative futures where organic life merges with advanced technologies, exploring the ethical, emotional, and psychological dimensions of these hybrid creations. Themes of empathy, dependence, mental health, and the risks of over-reliance on machines and artificial intelligence recur throughout her practice.

She earned a BFA in Metals and Jewelry from the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 2022, followed by an MFA in Jewelry + Metalsmithing from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) in 2024, where she received the Glancy Award and RISD’s 2024 Fine Arts Graduate Award.

Yarina’s process merges traditional jewelry-making techniques with experimental and digital methods. She works with electroforming, electroplating, and 3D printing, alongside emerging tools such as AR, VR, and AI-driven visual storytelling, creating speculative designs that bridge the physical and digital worlds while questioning not only what we create—but what we might become.
